FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER: SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE: WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY? (THE MAN OR THE WOMAN)

TOPIC:
SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE: Whose Responsibility? (The man or the woman)
Marriage is a lawful relationship between a man and a woman as husband and wife. It is a life-time contract which both parties involved need to play their individual role to keep the relationship on as unto God. If a partner in marriage is the only one saddled with responsibility to make the marriage work, the other partner may be irresponsible. God is not calling irresponsible people into marriage, but responsible ones to keep the marriage vows thereby serving as examples to the heathen and giving glory to the Lord. The roles of the man and woman are clearly defined in the scriptures.

The role of the man
1.  Love for his wives (Ephesians 5:25; Col. 3:19; Ephesians 5:33a)
2. Leadership role (1 Tim. 3:12, 1 Tim. 3:4-5)
3. Provide for his own household (1 Tim. 5:8)
4. Must leave and cleave (Genesis 2:24; Eph. 5:31; 1 Tim 3:2; Deuteronomy 24:5)
5. Live with her in knowledge of God ( 1 Peter 3:7; James 1:5)

The Role of the Woman
1. Submission (1 Peter. 3:1-6; 1 Timothy 2:11-14)
2. Respect the husband (Ephesians 5:33b)
3. Help mate: A wife's role is to be her husband's helper (Genesis 2:18, Proverbs 31:11)
4. Care for the home: responsible to take care of the children and the home (Titus 2:5,6)
5. Glory of the husband (1Corinthians 11:7-12.)
6. Examples to the young ones (Titus 2:4,5)

Converging Role of both Man and Woman
1. Love : 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; Proverbs 31:11-12
2. Trust: this is foundation in holding a marriage together
3. Faithfulness: you are required to be faithful stewards. 1 Cor. 4:1-2
4. Submit to each other's body: 1 Corinthians 7:5
5. Oneness: 1 Corinthians 11: 8,9
6. Keeping a sexual partner: Romans 12:1
7. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence; and likewise also the wife unto the husband: 1 Corinthians 7:3-9

CONCLUSION: The journey to a successful marriage depends on knowing the author of marriage (GOD) by the parties involved (man and woman). God gave us the scripture as a manual for life. It is full of hope and wisdom that we can lean on to help us build a successful marriage.  The bible has clearly defined the roles of both parties in marriage. Building a Christian home and keeping it strong requires work.  The husband needs to fulfill his duties to the wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

FRIDAY 18TH JULY 2014: POWER TO GET WEALTH.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS’ FELLOWSHIP [UNEC]

BIBLE STUDY, FRIDAY 18TH JULY, 2014
THEME OF THE YEAR: LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFE.
THEME OF THE MONTH: In His Presence.

TOPIC: POWER TO GET WEALTH.                                     TEXT: DEUT. 8:17-18.

WEALTH, according to Wikipedia, is the abundance of valuable resources or material possession. It means tangible or intangible things that make someone better off. Wealth is not only measured by the money you own, but by assets owned. Arithmetically, Wealth= The stuff you own[your assets] – The stuff you owe[your debt]. The opposite of wealth is destitution.
Wealth is not a SIN. It is true that the love of money is the root of all evil [1 Tim.6:10]; but the lack of it is evil itself. Prosperity is not equal to iniquity; and poverty is not equal to purity. If being wealthy is a sin then Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Joseph, David, Job, etc, are sinners- Are they?
OUTLINES: [1] GOD’S WILL IS PROSPERITY.      [2] YOU WILL PROSPER!
1.      GOD’S WILL IS PROSPERITY: Psalm 35:27; 3 John 2.
Many are desperate for quick financial fix; they confess prosperity verses without result, so they conclude it’s not God’s will for them to prosper. God’s plan for you is to grow financially, as you grow spiritually [3 John 2] because He knows that wealth is dangerous for you if you are spiritually immature- Galatians 4:1-2. The foundation for true wealth is a continual lifestyle built on the word of God [Matt. 6:33; Job 22:21-25].
2.      YOU WILL PROSPER! Psalm 1:1-3; Deut. 30:9; 28:8.
Stop being worried about your life and future; God will take care of you [Matt. 6:25-33]. If you are born again, you have the covenant promise of provision [Ephesians 2:12-13]. Wealth is a covenant of God with His children: you don’t chase it; you don’t fast for it, but you just remain in the covenant by keeping your part of the covenant while God keeps His own.
What to do to position yourself for God’s-given wealth
1.      Love [Obedience]- John 14:15,23; Job 36:11; Deut. 28:1-13; Matt. 6:33.
2.      Faithfulness- Prov. 28:20; Luke 16:10.
3.      Work wisely- Prov.10:14; 21:5; Genesis 26:12-14.
4.      Giving- your tithe, service, alms. 1 Kings 3:1-7; Luke 6:38; Prov. 28:27; 2 Cor. 9:7.
Conclusively, It is God who gives power to get wealth- Zechariah.4:6; Haggai 2:8. Wealth belongs to God; God is your Father; therefore what belongs to Him belongs to you- Luke 15:31. After laying the foundation of obedience, ask Him for what belongs to you- Matt.7:7; Psalm 2:8.                                                 YOU MUST PROSPER! AND YOU WILL PROSPER!
PRAYER: Father, help me to keep my part of the wealth-covenant. Father, I refuse to be poor.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY: 7TH SEPTEMBER, 2014

Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain... To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it - Kevyn Aucoin
